Mercedes-Benz EQB (X243) (X243)

The EQB answered an unusually practical question for an early electric car: where do the sixth and seventh passengers sit?

X243 adapted the GLB’s long 2,829 mm wheelbase and square roof to the same compact electric hardware used by EQA. The result was one of the few battery-electric cars in its class with an optional third row, suitable for passengers up to 1.65 meters tall. European sales began late in 2021 with the dual-motor EQB 300 and EQB 350 4MATIC, both using a usable 66.5 kWh battery and 100 kW DC charging; front-drive 250 and longer-range 250+ versions followed.

A 2023 update brought the star-pattern black panel, Plug & Charge, newer MBUX and, for five-seat cars, the first factory trailer hitch. Global launch timing and North American model years do not align: Europe and China received EQB at the end of 2021, while the United States began with model year 2022 and ended after model year 2025. Kecskemét completed the X243 run as it changed over to the all-new electric GLB, whose series production began in December 2025; some markets continued to advertise remaining EQB stock in 2026.
