Mercedes-Benz GLC with EQ Technology (X540)

The X540 is not an electric conversion of the GLC. It is the first Core model on the dedicated MB.EA architecture, a clean-sheet electric SUV that keeps the familiar name while replacing the old EQ naming logic.

Mercedes-Benz unveiled it in September 2025 and opened German orders for the GLC 400 4MATIC with EQ Technology on 29 October. Its 94 kWh usable NMC battery runs at 800 volts and feeds a permanently excited synchronous motor at each axle. The rear drive unit includes a two-speed gearbox; the front motor disconnects when it is not needed. Together they produce 360 kW and 800 N·m, while 330 kW DC charging can add as much as 303 km of WLTP range in ten minutes.

The electric platform gives the GLC a 2,972 mm wheelbase, 84 mm longer than the combustion X254, with a 570-litre boot, 128-litre frunk and 2.4-tonne towing capacity. AIRMATIC and 4.5-degree rear steering bridge comfort and manoeuvrability; MB.OS drives screens up to the 39.1″ MBUX Hyperscreen. Production ramped up at Bremen in the first quarter of 2026 on the same flexible line as combustion and hybrid GLCs and the EQE.

The launch GLC 400 4MATIC is the only designation Mercedes-Benz has fully released; four additional electric versions were announced without final names.
