The X244 is where the GLB and EQB become one car: a square-backed, seven-seat family SUV engineered around electric drive rather than adapted to it.
Unveiled on 8 December 2025, the second GLB is the largest member of the Mercedes Modular Architecture family. It stretches to 4,732 mm on a 2,889 mm wheelbase, creating more room in all three rows while retaining a sliding second bench and an optional pair of third-row seats. The five-seat boot holds 540 litres, the folded cabin 1,715 litres and the front trunk another 127. Above them, a standard panoramic roof and optional three-screen MBUX Superscreen give the pragmatic body the same MB.OS foundation as the CLA.
The launch cars brought the CLA’s rear-mounted permanently excited motor, silicon-carbide inverter and two-speed gearbox to an SUV. The GLB 250+ and dual-motor GLB 350 4MATIC use an 85 kWh NMC battery and charge at up to 320 kW on an 800-volt station. During 2026 the range grew to four: a 58 kWh GLB 200, 71 kWh GLB 250 and the two 85 kWh cars. The longest-range version is now certified for up to 632 km WLTP, while the smaller packs make the same architecture accessible below it.
