Mercedes-Benz 700.4 AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT transmission

AMG’s dual-clutch seven-speed — Getrag hardware, Affalterbach calibration, and the heartbeat of the SLS and first AMG GT.

Developed with Getrag (7DCL750) for the 2010 SLS AMG and carried into the C190 AMG GT, the 700.4 SPEEDSHIFT DCT is a wet dual-clutch seven-speed with Race Start, multiple shift maps and paddle-shift control. Unlike Mercedes-Benz’s own transverse 7G-DCT, this longitudinal unit was built for mid- and front-engined AMG sports cars and is rated up to about 800 N·m from the M159 and M178 engines.

It remained the AMG GT coupé and roadster’s gearbox through the R and C variants. Transverse A-Class and CLA AMG models use the 7G-DCT; the GT 63 four-door uses AMG’s multi-clutch SPEEDSHIFT MCT instead.

Public parts tables do not break the 700.4 into stamped sub-versions; a single Getrag 7DCL750 calibration is shown. A-Class/CLA AMG and GT 4-Door applications use other gearboxes and are excluded.
