Maybach Ultra-Luxury Sedan · Maybach 57
Ultra-luxury reborn — Maybach on the W240 platform.

The 57 was the shorter of the two Maybachs: 5,728 mm long on a 3,390 mm wheelbase, and the one an owner might plausibly drive himself. Underneath sat a heavily reworked S-Class platform, a 5.5-litre twin-turbocharged V12, AirMatic Dual Control air suspension and separate climate systems front and rear. The 57 S of 2005 brought the AMG-built 6.0-litre engine with 612 PS, rode 13 mm lower on 20-inch wheels, and moved the car’s emphasis from the rear compartment towards the driver.
The long-wheelbase Maybach 62 ran alongside it on the V240, 437 mm longer and unambiguously chauffeur-driven. Volume was never the point: 1,771 of the 3,321 Maybachs built were 57s, and in 2012 the marque was wound down, its place at the top of the range going to S-Class Pullman models.
