The 9G-TRONIC facelift — NAG3 revised for the latest platforms and hybrid duty.
Type 725.1 is Mercedes-Benz’s facelifted 9G-TRONIC (NAG3), introduced from about 2020 alongside the continuing 725.0 classic. It keeps the nine forward ratios and W9A torque classifications (roughly 400–1,000 N·m) while updating electronics and packaging for STAR2.x / STAR3 architectures and for hybrid drive units that integrate the electric motor, separator clutch and damper with the converter.
Factory service literature lists it on current longitudinal models including the W206 C-Class, W214 E-Class, X254 GLC, W223 S-Class and R232 AMG SL, as well as later W213/C257/W167 cars. The earlier 725.0 remains the designation for the classic NAG3 generation that debuted in 2013.
