Mercedes-Benz C-Class All-Terrain (X206) (X206)

The X206 is the C-Class Estate redrawn for the rough road rather than the off-road pose. Forty millimetres of added ground clearance, standard 4MATIC and larger tires sit between the low S206 and a conventional SUV, while the same 490-to-1,510-litre load bay remains intact.

Mercedes-Benz unveiled it in August 2021, presented it publicly at the Munich motor show in September and opened German ordering on 12 October. The body is 21 millimetres wider and four millimetres longer than the standard Estate, with dark wheel-arch cladding, model-specific bumpers and simulated underride protection. OFFROAD and OFFROAD+ modes alter the powertrain, steering and stability systems; Downhill Speed Regulation manages steep descents.

Only two factory variants were needed. The C 200 4MATIC uses the 1.5-litre M254 with 48-volt assistance, while the C 220 d 4MATIC uses the 2.0-litre OM654M diesel. Both send up to 45 per cent of engine torque forward through the nine-speed automatic, and optional DIGITAL LIGHT adds an off-road illumination pattern that widens the beam directly ahead.

X206 interior
An off-road display adds gradient, steering angle and coordinates to the portrait-screen C-Class cockpit.

Two models.

One petrol and one diesel, both with exact X206 Baumuster, 48-volt assistance, 4MATIC and a nine-speed automatic.
