The CLC was a facelift wearing a new name: the C-Class Sports Coupé of 2001, given a fresh face in 2008 and sold for three more years alongside the entirely new W204.
Around 1,100 parts were changed, but the doors, roof and glasshouse remained those of the CL203 launched seven years earlier. Engines ran from the supercharged CLC 160 KOMPRESSOR to the 3.5-liter M272 of the CLC 350, with OM646 and OM642 CDI diesels beneath.
Production moved from Bremen to Juiz de Fora in Brazil and ended in 2011, when the C204 coupé took over.

- 2008
- The C-Class Sports Coupé was relaunched as the CLC with new front and rear styling and more than 1,100 new or revised components.
- Direct-Steer variable-ratio steering and a new generation of colour-screen audio and navigation systems became available.
- The CLC 200 KOMPRESSOR gained 20 PS while consuming less fuel than its predecessor.
- 2009
- The CLC 160 BlueEFFICIENCY joined the range with a 129 PS 1.6-litre engine and six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission.
- 2011
- CLC production in Brazil ended without a factory Final Edition.
