Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sports Coupé / CLC (CL203) (CL203)

The CL203 began as the C-Class Sports Coupé, a compact three-door derivative of the W203 introduced in 2001, and became the CLC after an extensive 2008 facelift.

Around 1,100 parts changed for the CLC, but the doors, roof and glasshouse remained those of the original Sports Coupé. Across its life the range ran from four-cylinder petrol and diesel models to the C 32 AMG and later CLC 350.

Production began in Bremen, moved to Juiz de Fora in Brazil for the CLC, and ended before the C204 coupé took over.

The reborn CLC from its 1,100-component renewal to the BlueEFFICIENCY entry model and production end.

  1. 2001
    • The C-Class Sports Coupé launched as the three-door CL203 derivative with a short rear overhang and split rear window.
  2. 2004
    • The first facelift revised the exterior and cabin and introduced updated four-cylinder and V6 powertrains.
  3. 2008
    • The C-Class Sports Coupé was relaunched as the CLC with new front and rear styling and more than 1,100 new or revised components.
    • Direct-Steer variable-ratio steering and a new generation of colour-screen audio and navigation systems became available.
    • The CLC 200 KOMPRESSOR gained 20 PS while consuming less fuel than its predecessor.
  4. 2009
    • The CLC 160 BlueEFFICIENCY joined the range with a 129 PS 1.6-litre engine and six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission.
  5. 2011
    • CLC production in Brazil ended without a factory Final Edition.
