Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupé (C217) (C217)

Mercedes-Benz had not built an S-Class Cabriolet in decades — the C217 changed that, wrapping the W222 S-Class's refinement and technology in a four-seat open body with an automated fabric roof and a presence no SL could replicate.

Launched in 2015, the S-Class Cabriolet on the C217 chassis offered the full W222 powertrain range from six-cylinder diesel through the AMG S 63 and S 65 V12 biturbo variants. The three-layer insulated soft top folded in twenty seconds; AIRMATIC air suspension, Magic Body Control, and the full suite of S-Class safety systems made open-air motoring as serene as the closed car. Rear seats genuinely usable for adults distinguished the C217 from the two-seat SL and AMG GT roadsters.

Built from 2015 to 2020, the C217 S-Class Cabriolet was the last open S-Class Mercedes-Benz would produce — a rare four-seat luxury convertible that closed an era stretching back to the W111 and W112 cabriolets of the 1960s.
