Every X254 is electrified, and the plug-in hybrids will cover more than a hundred kilometers before the engine is asked to start.
In production since 2022, it uses M254 petrol and OM654 diesel fours with 48-volt integrated starter-generators and the M139 in the AMG GLC 43, and — unusually for the segment — its plug-in hybrids accept DC fast charging.
It grew some 60 mm in length over the X253 and adopted the W206 C-Class’s portrait touchscreen and MBUX interface.

- 2023
- Second-generation GLC launched in the United States with standard 4MATIC, a portrait 11.9-inch MBUX display, transparent-hood Off-Road view and optional rear-axle steering.
- Every combustion model used 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance; European GLC 300 e, 400 e and 300 de plug-in hybrids offered more than 100 km WLTP electric range and 60 kW DC charging.
- 2024
- AMG GLC 43 replaced V6 power with the electrically turbocharged M139 four-cylinder; AMG GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE added a rear-axle motor for 500 kW (671 hp) and 1,020 N·m.
- 2025
- GLC 350 e plug-in hybrid joined the US range with standard DC charging and an EPA-rated 54 miles of electric range.
- 2026
- Mercedes-AMG presented the GLC 53 4MATIC+ in calendar 2026; it reaches the United States as a model-year 2027 replacement for the GLC 43, which remains in the US range for model year 2026.
- The GLC 53 uses a 3.0-liter M256 inline-six, second-generation ISG, fully variable all-wheel drive, rear differential and Drift Mode.
