Mercedes-AMG SL-Class Roadster (R232)

Revealed in October 2021 and built from March 2022 in Bremen, the R232 is the first SL developed entirely by Mercedes-AMG — a clean-sheet aluminum space-frame roadster that also replaces the AMG GT Roadster.

It returns the SL to a fabric soft top (21 kg lighter than the previous folding hardtop), restores 2+2 seating as standard for the first time since the R129 era, and brings 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive and rear-axle steering to the range.

The lineup spans the mild-hybrid four-cylinder SL 43, twin-turbo V8 SL 55 and SL 63, the plug-in hybrid SL 63 S E Performance, and from 2025 the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series — all paired with AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G.
