Mercedes-Benz Sport LWB · Typ 500
The long-wheelbase 500 that bridged Kompressor road cars.

The Typ 500 on the W24 chassis offered an extended platform and eight-cylinder power in a configuration aimed at grand touring rather than parade duty. It occupied a narrow space in the catalogue between the stately long-wheelbase luxury eights and the supercharged performance models, built for clients who wanted space and speed in equal measure.
Just 12 examples were produced in a single model year. That tiny production count makes the W24 one of the least-known pre-war Mercedes-Benz chassis — a short bridge between eras rather than a defining model in its own right.

1 distinct series across 1936 — each identified by its chassis and engine numbers from period factory data.
