Mercedes-Benz Multipurpose Cabriolet · G 4
Three-axle G 4 — parade car and off-road statement.

Mercedes-Benz engineered the W31 as a heavy-duty off-road and parade vehicle: dual rear axles sharing drive, a powerful eight-cylinder engine, and a high-riding chassis intended for military escort, state occasions, and rough-terrain duty. The six-wheel layout spread weight and traction where two driven axles at the rear could not.
Only 57 were completed on the W31 chassis between 1934 and 1939. Each G 4 was a specializt machine — scarce, imposing, and unmistakable — and the type established the Geländewagen name long before the post-war G-Class arrived.

3 distinct series across 1934–1939 — each identified by its chassis and engine numbers from period factory data.
