The W110 was Mercedes-Benz's entry-level fintail — the smaller Heckflosse that brought diesel mass-market respectability and six-cylinder ambition to the firm's compact executive range.
Petrol 190c, 200, and 230 models shared the distinctive finned styling of their larger W111 siblings, while 190Dc and 200D diesels made Mercedes-Benz taxi and fleet domination a reality across Europe. Universal wagons added practical load space to the same robust chassis.

- 1961
- The 190 c and 190 Dc replaced the four-cylinder Ponton saloons.
- A rigid passenger cell and front and rear crumple zones brought the W111 safety concept to the smaller range.
- 1965
- The 200 replaced the 190 c with a 2.0-liter petrol engine.
- The 200 D replaced the 190 Dc with a 2.0-liter diesel engine.
- The six-cylinder 230 joined the W110 range.
- Revised taillights, front indicators and chrome trim provided exterior dating cues.
- 1966
- The 230 adopted a twin-carburettor engine with 120 hp.
- Factory-catalogued Universal estates expanded the revised W110 range.
- 1968
- Production ended in February as the W114 and W115 “Stroke Eight” range took over.
