Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan (W206) (W206)

The W206 dropped six- and eight-cylinder engines entirely: every C-Class is now a four, including the AMG.

In production since March 2021, it uses M254 and M264 turbo fours with 48-volt assistance and an OM654 diesel, with plug-in hybrids offering around a hundred kilometers of electric range. The C 63 S E PERFORMANCE replaces the V8 with a 500 kW petrol-electric four-cylinder driveline derived from Formula 1 practice.

Inside, the 11.9-inch portrait touchscreen and MBUX interface come down from the S-Class, and rear-axle steering appears on a C-Class for the first time.

Year by year.

The four-cylinder-only launch, long-range plug-in hybrids and AMG’s radical move away from V6 and V8 power.

  1. 2022
    • W206 launched in the United States with a portrait 11.9-inch MBUX touchscreen, fingerprint login, standard driver-assistance features and optional rear-axle steering.
    • Every engine was electrified and four-cylinder: C 300 used the M254 with a 48-volt integrated starter-generator; European diesels adopted the OM654M.
  2. 2023
    • AMG C 43 replaced the former V6 with a hand-built M139 four-cylinder using an electric exhaust-gas turbocharger, 48-volt starter-generator and rear-biased all-wheel drive.
    • European C 300 e and C 300 de plug-in hybrids paired a 25.4 kWh battery with 11 kW AC and 55 kW DC charging for roughly 100 km WLTP electric range.
  3. 2024
    • AMG C 63 S E PERFORMANCE reached customers with the M139 and a rear-axle electric drive unit: 500 kW (671 hp), 1,020 N·m and fully variable 4MATIC+.
    • Launch-year F1 Edition combined Alpine Grey paint, graduated AMG graphics, red accents and black 20-inch forged wheels.
