An aluminum-intensive body took roughly a hundred kilograms out of the C-Class, and the cabin arrived looking like an S-Class reduced in scale rather than in ambition.
From February 2014 the range covered M264 and M274 turbo fours, the M276 twin-turbo V6 of the C 43 and AMG’s 4.0-liter M177 V8, with OM651 and OM654 diesels, a diesel plug-in hybrid and the petrol C 300 e. AIRMATIC air suspension was offered on a C-Class for the first time.
Saloon and estate production ended in June 2021; the coupé and cabriolet continued to 2023 before the CLE replaced them.

US launch, AMG expansion and the electronics-heavy 2019 facelift — the changes that separate W205 model years.
- 2015
- The W205 sedan launched in the US as C 300 and C 400, using a lighter body with extensive aluminum, a four-link front axle and available AIRMATIC air suspension.
- COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS and ATTENTION ASSIST were standard; DISTRONIC PLUS with Steering Assist and cross-traffic braking was optional.
- Mercedes-AMG C 63 and C 63 S followed with the M177 4.0-liter biturbo V8.
- 2016
- C 450 AMG 4MATIC joined the range with a 362-hp twin-turbo V6, sitting between the C 300 and V8 C 63.
- 2017
- C 450 AMG was renamed Mercedes-AMG C 43 and adopted a nine-speed automatic; C 300 models also moved from seven to nine forward ratios.
- 2019
- The facelift revised bumpers and LED lighting and introduced a new electronic architecture, optional 12.3-inch digital instruments and a 10.25-inch central display.
- Steering-wheel touch controls and expanded E-Class-derived driver assistance arrived; the C 300 rose to 255 hp and the AMG C 43 to 385 hp.
- MULTIBEAM LED headlamps became optional, while the AMG C 63 retained its V8 but gained the Panamericana grille and updated drive programs.
- 2021
- The final US W205 sedan model year preceded the W206 C-Class.
