Early Geländewagen experiments for the Wehrmacht era.

The W103 program explored off-road mobility for armed forces and expedition use: a compact four-wheel-drive layout, rigid axles, and a body format that would evolve through later G-series types. It was engineering reconnaissance as much as series production — testing ideas that the much larger G 4 and G 5 programs would later refine.
Built between 1936 and 1939, the seven recorded G 1 examples on the W103 chassis represent a rare footnote in Mercedes-Benz military history. Few survive, but the type marks the point where Geländewagen ceased to be an ad hoc idea and became a defined product line.

1 distinct series across 1936–1939 — each identified by its chassis and engine numbers from period factory data.
