Sporting ambition in miniature — the Typ 150 Sport clothed the rear-engined 150 platform in open, performance-oriented coachwork for buyers who wanted something rarer than a standard Mercedes.
The W130 shared the rear-mounted 1.5-liter four-cylinder layout of the Typ 150 line but received shorter, lighter bodies — roadster and cabriolet styles built in tiny numbers at Sindelfingen. Independent suspension and the aft engine placement made for a distinctive driving character in a class where Mercedes-Benz was still exploring rear-drive packaging.
Just 17 were built on the W130 chassis between 1934 and 1936. Each was effectively a bespoke sporting special on a shared mechanical foundation — scarce then, and rarer still today.
