Mercedes-Benz Large Sedan · 200 V Sport
A rare sporting 200 on the eve of war.

The W149 adapted the Typ 200 V mechanical package — 2.0-liter side-valve four, conventional chassis — to lighter, more sporting coachwork in 1938 and 1939. It was not a Kompressor and not a Grand Prix car; rather a final flourish of pre-war sporting style on a platform otherwise associated with sober saloon duty.
No reliable production total appears in the published archive tables for the W149; surviving records suggest only a handful of examples from the 1938–1939 model years. What remains is a scarce, little-documented sporting footnote at the close of Mercedes-Benz peacetime passenger-car production.

1 distinct series across 1938–1939 — each identified by its chassis and engine numbers from period factory data.
