Mercedes-Benz 724.1 8G-DCT transmission

Eight wet clutches for MFA2 — the dual-clutch that succeeded the 7G-DCT.

The 724.1 8G-DCT is Mercedes-Benz’s transverse eight-speed dual-clutch for the MFA2 architecture, built in Romania and introduced from 2019 on the W177 A-Class, W247 B-Class, C118 CLA, H247 GLA and X247 GLB. An eighth ratio and higher torque capacity (about 520 N·m) improve efficiency and cover hotter four-cylinder petrol and diesel calibrations than the earlier 724.0 7G-DCT.

It is the mainstream FWD/4MATIC DCT for current compact Mercedes-Benz models. Longitudinal AMG sports cars keep the Getrag-based 700.4 SPEEDSHIFT DCT; larger RWD cars use the 9G-TRONIC.
