The K4 four-speed — a parallel hydraulic automatic for SL and mid-size saloons.

The 722.2 family uses K4C025 and K4A040 classifications (about 245 and 392 N·m) and appeared alongside the 722.1 in W114/W115 and R107/C107 applications. The stronger K4A040 backed early 350/450 SL and SLC models.

Like the 722.0 and 722.1, it belongs to the pre-4G-TRONIC generation of fully hydraulic Mercedes-Benz automatics.
