Mercedes-Benz Executive Sedan (W115)

The W115 was the diesel backbone of Mercedes-Benz's Stroke-8 generation — the Strich Acht variant that put indestructible oil-burning saloons into taxi ranks, company fleets, and driveways across the world.

From 200 D and 220 D through 240 D and the five-cylinder 300 D, the W115 offered a diesel for nearly every duty cycle. Petrol 200 and 220 models shared the same robust chassis and clean Bruno Sacco-influenced styling, but it was the diesel's reputation for longevity that defined the W115's character.

Built from 1968 to 1976, the W115 was produced in 1,445,068 examples — the overwhelming majority of the nearly two-million-strong Stroke-8 program shared with the W114.
