The second B-Class abandoned the sandwich floor inherited from the A-Class, dropped some eight centimeters in height and finally looked like a car rather than a proposition.
Built at Rastatt from November 2011 on the MFA platform, it used M270 turbocharged petrol fours and OM607 and OM651 diesels with a 7G-DCT dual-clutch, and spawned the battery-electric B-Class Electric Drive with a drivetrain supplied by Tesla.
Production ran to December 2018, by which time the Mercedes-Benz compact family had grown to include the A-Class, CLA, GLA and the CLA Shooting Brake.
