Mercedes-Benz A-Class Hatchback (W176) (W176)

Mercedes-Benz abandoned the tall sandwich floor and built a proper low-slung hatchback instead — then handed it to Affalterbach.

In production from July 2012 on the MFA platform, the W176 used M270 turbocharged petrol fours and OM607 and OM651 diesels with a six-speed manual or 7G-DCT. The A 45 AMG’s 2.0-liter M133 produced 360 PS, at the time the most powerful series-production four-cylinder in the world.

Facelifted in 2015, it ran to 2018 and turned the A-Class from an oddity into the brand’s entry point for a younger buyer.
